What is Recruitment Marketing and Why Do You Need It?

“A team is only as strong as its weakest player.”

“A house is only as strong as its foundation.”

“A chain is only as strong as the weakest link.”

You get the idea. Who you have on your team significantly impacts your company as a whole. But, how do you ensure that you have the best crew hired? What if your all-star player isn’t active on LinkedIn to see your job posting or for your recruiting team to find them because they aren’t actively looking for a job? What if you depend on inbound leads, but your perfect candidate needs to be found and nurtured before they apply?

Recruiting is no longer passive. In 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the job market continued to be in the candidate’s favor, with more than 11.4 million job openings and two positions for each unemployed person. By comparison, pre-covid, there were approximately 7 million job openings for job seekers to consider.

Think about the difference in just three years, and believe us, candidates will as well. Those true MVPs? If they’re looking for a new role, they’ll be inundated with options, so you need to stay top of mind and constant in their job hunt. If they aren’t looking for a new role? Even more reason to actively get in front of them and put in the legwork to get your company front and center for contemplation.

That’s where Recruitment Marketing comes in! At Rumbletree, we live and breathe Recruitment Marketing under the guidance of our COO, Alex Kellogg, who opened up the talent acquisition arm of the agency almost a decade ago after years as a senior technology staffing professional. We’ve had the pleasure of working with companies and brands of all shapes and sizes in this realm, including New Balance, Sola Salon Studios, and Lonza. Since its inception, we’ve recruited 1,000’s of new MVPs.

So what is Recruitment Marketing, and why do you need it? Simply put, it’s a set of tactics utilized to increase knowledge of your brand and market it to potential candidates.
