With so many in need this holiday season, Rumbletree is giving the gift of food by donating to The Seacoast Family Food Pantry on behalf of their clients.
With the economic slow down and the greater need for assistance, it was an easy decision to use the agency’s holiday resources to help those in the area who are having trouble putting food on the table.
“Helping to feed those in need is something all our clients can feel good about ” said President Charles Yeaton, “given the economic climate, we felt that it was especially important this year to assist those less fortunate”.
Seacoast Family Food Pantry has over 300 families on the client list. Once a month they can come to the pantry and receive canned goods, fresh produce, dairy, and protein. Additionally, clients can find personal care items at the pantry, such as shampoo, combs and toothpaste, that are not covered by food stamps.
“The need remains as great as it has ever been, and in recent months it has increased by over 30%," according to Margie Parker, Assistant Executive Director of Seacoast Family Food Pantry. "Families have been hit really hard given the economy. The families that were on the border are now over the line," said Parker.
“Having been in business in Portsmouth for over 16 years, we feel strongly about giving back to the community,” said Barrie Hanlon, Director of Operations & Marketing. “The idea to donate in lieu of gifts came from our employees who wanted our holiday gesture to have greater meaning.”
